History: Professor Ryuichi Narasaki was a brilliant scientist who created the giant robot, Miroku 2, to help with the construction of a space station on Mars. One day while showing the machine to his young daughter, Emi, something in its reactor malfunctioned. The rising pressure caused a huge hose to release from the machine and smash into the room where Narasaki and his daughter were, killing Emi and causing the professor to lose his left eye. Stricken with grief and guilt, Narasaki locked his machine away forever. Or at least, so he thought...
Ten years later, the space monster Negadon attacked Tokyo. Seeing the opportunity to finally atone for his sins, Narasaki activated the Miroku 2 and went to battle the creature. The monster fired its beam at Miroku, only to have the attack sent back at it by the machine’s drill. Narasaki pressed his attack, but the monster burrowed into the ground and emerged behind him. Another beam erupted forth from its clawed arm, this time finding its mark in Miroku’s chest.
Narasaki would not be defeated so easily, however. Grabbing hold of Negadon with its claw, Miroku took to the skies, dragging the beast behind it all the way into space. There, they each made their final, last-ditch efforts at victory. The monster charged up a massive ball of energy, while Miroku hurled itself at the monster. The energy met with the machine’s drill, but Miroku proved the mightier. It forced its way through the attack and plunged its drill into the beast’s body. With one final cry, the creature fell limp and exploded. His final task accomplished, Narasaki accepted his fate and allowed the explosion to engulf Miroku.
