History: Needing a replacement for the overwhelmed, and uncooperative, police force; the senior vice president of Omni Consumer Products tried to come up with a robotic enforcement droid, the ED-209 series, but a demonstration of these machines proved to be disastrous, so seeing his chance, Executive Robert Morton came forward with a project of his own. He advocates for a cyborg police-officer, half-man, half-machine. All they needed was a test subject.

One is soon provided for them, in the form of Alex Murphy, whom was brutally slain by a local gang led by drug lord Clarence Boddicker. His body was taken by OCP and used in the construction of Robocop. Robocop has three prime directives, 'Serve the public trust,' 'Protect the innocent,' 'Uphold the Law,' and a fourth and then unknown directive, which was programmed for him to be unaware of, until it became necessary.

The cyborg proves to be an overwhelming success, halting a great deal of crime through out the city, utilizing brutal methods in the process, but soon Robocop begins to experience memories of his previous life, and starts to pursue those who murdered him. This eventually leads him to the shady dealings of Dick Jones, the senior vice president of OCP.

Trying to apprehend Dick Jones reveals to Robocop just exactly what his Fourth Directive is, he is prohibited from taking any action against senior OCP staff. To try to renders him almost immobile, and thus leaves him open to attack from both ED-209, as well as a SWAT team called in by Jones as well, but Robocop manages to escape from both of these things, with the help of his old partner.

Concerned with what Robocop knew, Dick Jones sent Boddicker and his gang out to destroy the cyborg. They ultimately fail, and Robocop comes back to once again arrest Dick Jones, eliminating the ED-209 robot in the process. Unable to take any action against Dick Jones, Robocop was powerless to do anything until the Head of OCP fires Jones, allowing Robocop to dispense some justice. With a great deal of his humanity still intact, Robocop continued to ceaselessly defend the streets of Detroit from any manner of threats, be it they from a drug addicted cyborg or any other offenders, both man and machine.
