History: Brilliant and stricken with an accelerated growth syndrome, Martin Brundle was housed and nurtured by Bartok industries, the company his father Seth Brundle worked for. As the company raised him, they tried to replicate the teleportation that Seth Brundle had created, but were failing miserably. The mutant genes in Martin’s body were dormant throughout his childhood, but when he came of age, the genes began to awaken. At the same time, Martin was promoted to be in charge of the teleportation project where he slowly uncovered the secrets of both himself and his father.
He soon fell for co-worker Beth Logan where she began to help him with the teleportation processes. When the two finally slept with one another, Bartok transferred her to another facility. Martin was enraged and his mutation was starting to fully kick in. Sores on his body opened up, secreting a strange web-like substance.
Discovering cameras in his home, Martin sought out Beth after password-protecting the telepods. Together they were on the run from the company, but Martin was now starting to lose his mind. The two couldn’t find any answer, not even from Stathis Borans whom survived his encounter with the Brundlefly years prior. When Beth awoke to discover he had created a sort of cocoon with the webs coming from his body, she called the company whom arrived and taken Martin back to the facility.
After a short gestation period, Martin emerged from the cocoon in a new, monstrous form! Martin went on a path of bloody destruction through the compound, slaughtering anyone foolish enough to cross his path. He made his way to the telepod lab where Mr. Bartok and his security held Beth.
Killing his guards, Martin approached Mr. Bartok but was shot twice. Thinking the creature was dead, he approached the remains. Martin suddenly sprang into action, wrapping his arms around his body and holding him tight. Taking him to the computer terminal, the Martinfly used Mr. Bartok’s fingers to type in the password: dad. What activated wasn’t just the teleportation sequence, but a gene-swapping program created by Martin!
Mr. Bartok was helpless as he begged for mercy, but Martin dragged him into the telepod. Beth pressed the enter key and started up the program. Both beings were teleported and their genes swapped. Martin was returned to normal, but Mr. Bartok was transformed into a hideous freak. Unable to walk, the mutant was treated like a specimen as Beth and Martin were free to live out now, relatively normal lives.
