History: A colossal spider lurking within the island paradise of Sollgel, Kumonga often slept for weeks at a time. It fed on anything and everything alive, being the top predator of the island and possibly the world. As Riko and Goro moved along the valley walls, a few tumbling rocks awoke the massive arachnid. The eight-legged nightmare rose up, looking on at the two humans before it. They managed to escape, hiding within a small crevice. They used fire to burn away the web spray and climbed out of danger, but Kumonga was now fully on the hunt.
The monster came across the newly hatched Minilla and was quick to cocoon the reptile with its webs. Approaching the infant with the intent of killing it, Kumonga’s attention was shifted to that of a nearby Kamacuras. The mantis tried to flee, but Kumonga saw the insect as a free meal. Quickly cocooning it, the arachnid injected a lethal dose of poison into its victim, killing it almost instantly.
With its first meal assured, Kumonga returned to Minilla, preparing to inject a dose of poison into him also. Looming over the small reptile, Kumonga was suddenly attacked by the furious might of Godzilla! The mammoth spider and monster king began to draw battle, but Godzilla’s atomic fire did little to halt the arachnid from its attack. As the battle raged, Godzilla freed Minilla from his sticky cocoon and the trapped scientists once again tried to freeze the island, along with the warring kaiju, to escape the island.
The scientists' plan work, and as the creatures battled, the island was caught in a fierce blizzard. The arachnid wasn’t affected by the extreme changed of temperature and continued the attack, using its tremendous size to batter the monster king, but Minilla began to aid his father. Together, Godzilla and his son launched their atomic rays, setting the ugly body of Kumonga aflame! The arachnid collapsed to the snow-covered ground, its body blossoming into a blistering inferno.
When the island fully froze, Godzilla and Minilla underwent hibernation and either Kumonga recovered or a second had been discovered. The arachnid was transported to Monster Island before finding a final home on Monster Land by the year 1999. When the Kilaakian invaders assaulted the Earth, Kumonga was one of their many tools of destruction.
But as the war raged, humanity stole the control of the kaiju and summoned the beasts to Mount Fuji to confront the aliens. In response, the aliens called forth the golden space dragon King Ghidorah! The hydra was pitted against the strongest creatures to ever walk the Earth, and Kumonga was one of many behemoths to fight the demon. Using its web spray, Kumonga was joined by the likes of Mothra and Godzilla to finally put an end to the king of terror.
With the war finally over, Kumonga returned to Monster Land with the company of kaiju. Still the top predator of the island, even Godzilla knew better than to face the arachnid alone again.
